What is the Travel BlogCamp?

It’s a question that I get asked a lot but primarily it’s an informal networking event, held in a bar or pub, we have three speakers, who talk about a specific subject, the audience can ask questions which usually starts a good discussion.

There’s plenty of time to network, relax and have a drink before and after the presentations.

This year’s event is held on Tuesday 8 November 2011, during the World Travel Market in London and the event is perfect if you want to relax after a hectic day rushing around the ExCeL exhibition centre. Space is limited to 150 people and places will go up for grabs in mid-September.

  1. Ideally You build in a round of elevator pitches of those who are in the room. That makes it easier to put faces to activities and enables the attendants to look for those they came to the venue to meet.

I think part of the problem was that the room was a little dark last year. This year, if we use the same venue we’ll have to put the lights up full! :)

  2. I was really glad to hear you’ll be limiting it to 100 people, but then it hit me I might not be one of those 100 people :) Have you thought of giving priority to those of us who attended the inaugural BlogCamp last year?

    • @ Jared

That’s a good question. I need to have a think about that. It seems fair to invite those who attended last year first, but then a little unfair for those who want to attend for the first time.

I think this year’s places will go a lot quicker, so I’ll have a think about it and report back here :)

That’s a great tip about coats! Yes, I did that the second day, left my coat in the hotel. The queues are massive.

  3. Hi Darren

Love the look of your new site & looking forward to the Travel camp this year. Even thought you limit the numbers remember that there are always a fair no of drop outs at the last minute.

You could charge, say a tenner to cover the work involved & it may encourage people to commit to coming only if they really want to.
